The Gasyard Development Trust is currently constructing a 'Neighbourhood Education and Cultural Centre' on the site of the former gasworks in the Brandywell area of Derry City.

The Centre will incorporate enhanced childcare, health, heritage, cultural development and community development facilities. The 'Gasyard Centre' will be located within a six-acre landscaped community park.

The project, conceived in 1991, is seen within the local community, and by local politicians and community leaders, as a flagship project signalling the beginning of a new, pioneering era of regeneration and job creation, within the Bogside and Brandywell communities.

The Gasyard is being promoted and carried forward for social, educational, environmental and recreational purposes- and is geared towards the creation of viable social economy projects aimed at addressing major gaps in service provision to the local community.
