The Bogside History Centre is being promoted by the Bloody Sunday Trust- a community based education and history organisation established in 1996 with the aim of enhancing respect and understanding for human rights through a greater understanding of our shared history, through the honest examination of our past, with particular reference to events during the past thirty years. This process will aid reconciliation between the peoples of Britain and Ireland and the peoples of the island of Ireland.

The Bloody Sunday Trust aims to establish the Bogside History Centre as an integral component of the Gasyard Development. The History Centre will enable the collation of and expression of the often turbulent history and experiences of the Bogside community and convey these experiences to the wider community throughout these islands and beyond.
The Centre will contribute to local economic regeneration in an area of multi-deprivation by attracting and servicing special interest tourism, become an educational focus for those attempting to come to terms with our troubled past in an honest and forthright manner, and cater to the educational and research needs of future generations.
The Centre itself will contain an exhibition area, research area, office and access to the auditorium and training/ teaching facilities. The Bloody Sunday Trust is currently being supported by the Community Relations Council through its European Peace & Reconciliation fund.
