The Bogside & Brandywell Initiative (BBI) is a product of the new political space that developed in the 6 Counties from August 1994.

The antecedents of BBI stem back into the vibrant tradition of self-help and community action that has existed in inner city Derry for many years. Against the backdrop of the new political and social potential the BBI, facilitated by the Bogside and Brandywell Development Association, emerged after extensive process of community consultation in the Bogside, Brandywell and Greater Bishop Street neighbourhoods of Derry.
