Ark Park: A project designed and managed by young people from Youthfirst.
Ark Park is local project in the Bogside. This project was the bright idea from a group of young people who felt that a service of this kind would be a great benefit to the community. The aim of the project is to provide a play and rest area for parents and toddlers. It will provide a friendly, caring and secure environment for adults and toddlers. The funding for the project has come from Community Service Volunteers, Millennium Commission and N.I.V.T Youthbank. The project started in October 1999 where fundraising events took place and special training for the young people involved. There where 14 young people aged between 14-18 who took park in the project.
Anti-Bullying Workshops
One of Youthfirst special projects is where we visit other youth clubs and schools and provide workshops to young people on the issues regarding bullying. We can show a video and provide discussion groups and support. If your school or club is interested in one of our Anti-Bullying workshops please e-mail us at youthfirst@fsmail.net or phone Dominic Bonner on 028 71309079.You can get more information on Bullying by visiting the web site www.bullying.co.uk
International Contacts
Youthfirst have been involved in international work over the past three years in 1999 we took a group of young people to Holland as part of our international exchange programme. In 2001 we hope to visit Portugal with 12 young people from Youthfirst, who will take part in a work programme on a children's play area. We at Youthfirst would like to make contact with other international youth projects where we can network to share ideas and to get young people involved in e-mail pen pals. You can do this by contacting us on youthfirst@fsmail.net.
Children and staff Stress Management Workshops
We can also provide stress workshops for children, teenagers and staff. From a 1 hour session to a full day session. The workshops are in the form of group exercise sheets, discussion and relaxation, and it's all fun. Contact us on youthfirst@fsmail.net or phone 028 71309079 and ask for Dominic Bonner.
