The Townsend Index of Material Deprivation ranked the Bogside and Brandywell areas as being amongst the most severely disadvantaged communities within Derry City.

Recent research carried out by the University of Ulster showed that 88% of people from this area have no formal qualifications.

Dove House aims to further the promotion and encouragement of self-sufficiency, empowerment and participation of the community and also seeks to position the Trust to implement sustainable social projects in consultation and partnership with the local community and statutory bodies.
