Training and EducationThe Bogside & Brandywell Women's Group provides training and education for local people with a particular focus on the needs of women and their families. We work with women of all ages and our aim is to encourage women to return to education, to seek entry into the labour market or to play an active role within their own community. As a partner in the Bogside and Brandywell Adult Education Project, we have a representative on Triax Learning sub-group and work closely with The North West Institute for Further & Higher Education. By providing training and education, particularly Essential Skills Training we encourage women who left school without qualifications to return to study in a safe, friendly and familiar environment. This assists women to avail of the opportunity to return to learning and use the progression routes which exist to get into further and higher education. It can also assist women to enter the labour market. The provision of childcare helps to break down some of the barriers which face women in returning to education and training. All of this work leads to a more confident and self reliant community. As the lead organisation in the Bogside and Brandywell Adult Education Project we offer a wide range of courses throughout the year. (See list below) We have an open enrolment in September and again in February but would encourage people to contact us at any time with any suggestions they may have as we will run a course if we have sufficient numbers. Courses provided are both academic and recreational. Some of the Courses Available include:
